Ruthie Kolle
In my 20+ years as a bodyworker, I have done mostly deep tissue work and have helped countless people lessen their pain and improve their quality of life. I’ve seen physical as well as emotional healing happen on the table. My work as an herbalist and massage therapist have taught me that trauma takes up residence in bodies, and there is always a deeper message than just “my traps are always tight”. If trauma happens TO a body, how can it not be stored IN a body?
I have been wanting to do more of this type of hands on, heart-centered trauma healing in my practice, but was never quite sure how. I recently had the privilege of attending a weekend-long Somatic Mindfulness workshop led by Fernando Rojas. It was one of those moments when the right key slides into the lock and suddenly you see how it all fits together. I am so pleased to be offering this new kind of healing to the community that weaves together my experience as a bodyworker and herbalist.
Somatic Mindfulness for Healing Trauma
I am also a trauma informed bodyworker and offer sessions specifically for Somatic Mindfulness. This is a light touch modality, and the client can choose to be fully clothed. As a Somatic Mindfulness practitioner, I help you learn to listen to the messages your body is sending you and empower you in your own healing by providing a safe place for the body to release and process its trauma. I may also use hydrosols and essential oils during the session if I feel the need for a certain plant to be brought into the space.
I am a judgment-free therapist and do not discriminate based on age, gender, sexual orientation, race, body type, religion, financial status, or physical ability. I work with everyone: marathon runners, construction workers, new moms, pregnant moms, busy parents, people with desk jobs (they can be the hardest on your body!), teens, grandmas…. Everyone deserves healing touch!
