Somatic Mindfulness

The training has elevated the massage experience...(I'm starting my 9th year of massage & I've truly fallen in love with the practice all over again)

When applying the somatic mindfulness principles and techniques during a massage; from a therapist's perspective; from my perspective.

The body is speaking and I am listening- holding space, fully involved....I am with you, fully present and being mindful.

I place my hands softly, slowly, without judgement, without trying to fix anything.... and I can feel the tension in the tissues beneath them. I gently apply light pressure, creating subtle movement, then hold; remaining curious and still listening. I can feel apprehension and resistance- I continue to hold....and I wait.... I wait for the body to speak- it's language is sensations, and I am listening.... then the muscles start to respond; the tissues soften, they relax... then I flow with the muscle as it relaxes....allowing the muscle and soft tissues to fall into gravity. The relaxation comes in waves and it's such a humbling experience to witness.
