More, not better ...
We should adopt a more horizontal perspective on “being better.” When we perceive ourselves as having progressed, let's view it as transitioning to a different state rather than moving away from something inferior. I believe we don't fundamentally change; instead, our perspectives and understandings of what is useful evolve. Our core identity remains immutable, shaped by the totality of our experiences. We can only add to it, not subtract from it. We start as a 'blank slate' (depending on one's beliefs about pre-birth), and our evolution accompanies us throughout life. Thus, we continually define ourselves through addition as we shape our path through existence.
