Not knowing ...

I recently had a friendly conversation with a priest to explore where we could “agree.” We agreed that we may not be able to know the Creator directly, but we can aim to know his/her Creation directly.

Sometimes I think of this as systems (of life). What are the “rules” for flower growth, rainbow sightings, ideas arising? Some One came up with them; it wasn’t me.

I find that, whilst the “why” will always be elusive, it’s worth our while to make friends with the question mark. We are part, after all, of that vast and intricate system of life, and we are fortunate to witness our participation in it; … we can recognize our amygdala and our executive functions.

That space of witnessing seems to me to be the third leg of the triumvirate. That could very well be where “not-knowing” lives. Free from the “should”; wise in the “could”.
